Rustic Lake Home Design
There’s something special about a rustic lake home. It should feel warm, inviting, relaxed, and like a place guests never want to leave. When our clients came to us to transform their lake property into a short term rental, they knew the home had incredible potential, but the dark finishes, heavy spaces, and outdated layout were keeping it from truly standing out.
At Click & Design, we completely reimagined the home from the ground up, carefully selecting everything from lighting and furniture to lamps, decor, artwork, and finishing details. Our goal was to brighten the home, open up the living areas, and create a space that felt elevated while still keeping the cozy rustic charm that makes lake homes so appealing.
For the living room and dining room, we focused on layering lighter textures, warm woods, statement lighting, and thoughtfully curated furnishings to make the spaces feel larger, brighter, and more welcoming. What once felt dark and closed in now feels airy, inviting, and designed for gathering with family and friends after a day on the lake.
One of the most rewarding parts of this project was seeing our virtual design boards come to life exactly as planned. This project is proof that when a design is implemented correctly, a space can truly go from “meh” to “wow.” Not only does great design transform how a home feels, but for short term rental owners, it can directly impact guest experience, photography, and ultimately bookings.
A well designed rental helps your property stand out in a crowded market, creates a memorable guest experience, and encourages more clicks, saves, and reservations. We’re excited to share this transformation and show how virtual design can completely change the look, feel, and performance of a property.

THE AFTER
We love seeing the design concepts become a reality. From dark and dated to bright, inviting, and booking ready ✨
THE BEFORE
The “before” had all the potential… but dark carpeting, heavy furniture, and little lighting made the space feel closed in and dated
Dining Room
This dining space went from dark and overlooked to warm, layered, and full of character. By adding statement lighting, lighter furnishings, texture, and intentional styling, we created a space that feels inviting for gathering, entertaining, and making memories after a day on the lake.
A well designed dining area doesn’t just photograph beautifully for a listing, it helps guests instantly picture themselves here.

Bedroom
The goal for this bedroom was simple… create a space guests never want to leave. We transformed the room with warm layered textures, cozy lighting, curated furnishings, and calming tones that made the entire space feel brighter, softer, and more relaxing.
Bedroom Retreat
In short term rentals, bedrooms matter more than ever. A beautiful, comfortable retreat helps create the kind of experience guests remember and rebook for.
